Hero’s Midnight Hungama At Ex-Lover’s House

When love goes scorned, even the most stable mind goes haywire. The perfect example for that is seen in Bollywood. Few years ago, we heard how Salman Khan created a ruckus in front of Aishwarya’s house while their affair got sour and now, another incident has cropped up.

It is known news that the love tale between Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone ended sometime back. However, it is heard that recently, Ranbir ended up at the apartment of Deepika in the middle of the night at 12.45 am. He was adamant about speaking to her but the watchman stood brave and did not allow Ranbir inside. The Cozy Home apartment has got a strict rule regarding visitors and not even a super celebrity is allowed without the permission of the residents.

Since that didn’t work out, it is heard that Ranbir began to call Deepika on her cell and a source reveals that he was pleading with her to let him in as he wanted to explain and was sorry. Finally, Deepika gave up but not before Ranbir was made to wait for nearly half hour at the gate. It is heard that Ranbir went inside at 1.15 am and left the place by 1.45 am. It seems the hero used to visit the place quite frequently when both of them were seeing each other.

Ramcharan Mosquito Bites Siddharth

The southern stud Siddarth is a man of immense talent and knowledge but the recent past has been quite dismal for him. Siddarth has not been able to score a single hit but now, he is all set to arrive with a flick that has been making some noise among the film nagar circles.

We are talking about the film ‘Anaganaga Oka Dheerudu’, the socio fantasy flick wherein Sidz is seen as a warrior. Recently, the stills of the film were released and many are now wondering if Siddarth and his movie can actually make it to the league of Ramcharan and his ‘Magadheera’.

The film seems to be rich in graphics and the brand image is high due to the involvement of Walt Disney. But what is required is the nativity feel which can connect to the Telugu audience. And given the boyish face of Sidz, it remains to be seen whether he can show the machismo that Charan showed. People are saying that Ram Charan mosquito has bitten Sidz and hence the latter is dreaming if something works out for him onpar with Ram Charan after Magadheera. Let us see how it goes…

'Orange' Declared Disaster!!!

They announced that ‘Orange’ which has Chiru’s son Ramcharan has failed miserably in meeting the expectations of the audience. They also declared that the film is a disaster. They also criticized Chiru that instead of chanting slogans on ‘Samajika Nyayam’ to people, the megastar must first focus on doing ‘samajika nyayam’ to the many distributors, buyers, producers who are getting into severe losses due to him, his brother Pawan Kalyan and freshly his son Ramcharan.

The Sakshi channel also questioned as to what sort of ‘Samajika Nyayam’ did Chiranjeevi do to all those producers who went bankrupt by buying his films such as ‘Mrigaraju’ ‘Andarivaadu’ ‘Jai Chiranjeeva’ ‘Shankardada Zindabad’ and others. They also put a straight question on the PRP chief and the Yuva Rajyam chief Pawan Kalyan as to why they have not done ‘Samajika Nyayam’ to those who have landed on streets after buying films like ‘Gudamba Sankar’ ‘Balu’ ‘Bangaram’ ‘Annavaram’ ‘Komaram Puli’.

The channel also whitewashed the mega family for creating a fear among the buyers that they spent a budget as much as ‘Magadheera’ for the film ‘Orange’. They alleged that the mega brothers did mega cheating by spreading a talk like that. The channel also claimed that right from the second day, the theatres showing ‘Orange’ went empty and added that right on the third day, the film was removed from few theaters. Not only that, they also gave the credit to Rajamouli for bringing success to ‘Magadheera’ while Ramcharan was projected as a zero.

After buying ‘Orange’, many people have gone into losses upto 60%-70% as per estimation, so the channel asked Chiranjeevi to come forward and do some ‘Samajika Nyayam’. So many times Chiru has said that Tamil superstar Rajinikanth is his inspiration but the channel asked a direct question as to why the megastar has not taken any inspiration in doing justice to those who suffered from the films of mega family.

Ever since the time they have stopped doing Jagan ‘Bhajana’ the TRP ratings for Sakshi channel has been on the rise. In this circumstance, the special feature on ‘Orange’ that came in the channel gave a death blow to the film.

NBK's 'Nartanashala' After 'Sri Rama Rajyam'

The great N T Rama Rao was known for his portrayal of divine roles such as Lord Rama and Lord Krishna. Now, even his son wants to take the legacy forward. We are talking about Nandamuri Balakrishna and it is a known fact that Balayya is very keen on doing ‘Pouranikams’.

He got tempted to get into pouranikams long back and it was then the idea of remaking ‘Nartanasala’ came up. However, the sudden demise of Soundarya and Balayya getting caught up with the ‘Bellamkonda shootout’ controversy, the project was left in the cold storage.

Now, after a brief lull, he is back in business with ‘Sreerama Rajyam’ and sources say that to fulfill his desire, he is likely to take off with ‘Nartanasala’. The buzz is that maybe Nayantara or Sneha will be chosen as Draupadi. Some are also saying that the success of ‘Sreerama Rajyam’ will play a role in this.

Sexy Cleopatra Of Tollywood

She is called the milky thigh beauty for obvious reasons and though she is barely one film old in the Telugu circuit, she has created a sensation in the entire southern cinema. Incidentally, she is a beauty from the north and she is also a qualified engineering graduate.

She is none other than Taapsee Pannu and right now, she is being called as the sexy Cleopatra of Tollywood. The cine folks say that Taapsee is not just a vision of beauty but is also a warm personality. She has become close to many in the cine circuit and everyone wants her company.

Those who interact with her say she is very friendly and add that she is quite a hot looking girl. Taapsee from her end has been bagging projects in a galore not just in Telugu but also in Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada. Let us hope that the pretty girl from Delhi plans a long innings here.

Total 6.5 Cr hole For Nagababu @ 'Orange'

Mega brother Naga Babu had grandly launched his project ‘Orange’ under their family banner Anjana Productions. True to the image, he did not hesitate to spend the extra money to ensure that they come up with something that can at least touch half the success of ‘Magadheera’.

However, the results turned out to be something different. Sources say that already, Naga Babu sold the film at a deficit after spending nearly Rs 35 crores for the film. Overall, after selling satellite rights and other things, it is heard that he still suffered a Rs 6.5 crore deficit.

As for the distributors who took ‘Orange’, all of them ended up with a 50% deficit in their overall earnings. They say that they got slightly lucky as the openings were good due to Ramcharan’s image and crowd pull factor along with the songs. Better luck next time folks.

Movie Review: The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

Director: Michael Apted
Cast:
Georgie Henley, Skandar Keynes, Ben Barnes, Will Poulter
Story:
The Pevensie siblings join Prince Caspian once again in his adventures in Narnia, the fantasy land where Aslan roars and Reepicheep rat talks. But this time, Lucy and Edmund are joined by their cousin Eustace who begins as a reluctant voyager on the mystical ship, the Dawn Treader, but ends up a true hero in an adventure which sees them battling sea serpents, evil creatures and the wicked White Witch (Tilda Swinton).

Movie Review:
Doesn't matter if you haven't read the Narnia Chronicles by CS Lewis. Doesn't matter if you haven't seen the earlier sequels too. The third part in the fantasy series holds merit on its own and manages to hold you in your seat with its mix of make-believe, special effects and fairy tale folklore.

The fact that the film is in 3D makes it even more inviting for the sword fights, the dragon fires and the choppy sea hits you in your face as you try to keep pace with the Pevensies in their traditional battle of good against evil.

The third franchise of the Narnia story makes audiences glued to their seats as it has dumfounding special effects and captivating make-belief fairytale folklore. The film holds the viewers with great interest even if they aren’t aware of the Narnia Chronicles book and even if they haven’t watched its sequels. The 3D effect makes it even more appealing with dragon fires and swords hitting the movie goers on their faces.

Eustace’s strange friendship with Reepicheep is enormously inviting. Aslan and the mean White Witch were missing in action but considering the fact that the brother-sister duo is fast growing and may not have access to the mesmerising world of Narnia in due course is something that can be forgiven. After all, there is very little of fantasy left in this mundane empty world.

Adding fire to their heroics is their whiny, almost offensive cousin Eustace, who grows into an unlikely hero as the danger threatens. His unusual friendship with braveheart Reepicheep is extremely enticing. Of course, we would have loved to have more of the majestic Aslan and the mean White Witch, specially since the brother-sister duo are growing up fast and may not have access to magical, mystical Narnia for long. But we aren't complaining. Specially since there's so little of make-believe left in this mundane world.

Enjoy it while it lasts.

'Rakta Charitra-2' Review

Film: Rakta Charitra-2
Rating: 3.25/5
Banner:
Cinergy productions
Cast: Suriya, Vivek Oberoi, Shatrughan Sinha, Priyamani, Radhika Apte, Sudeep, Aijaz Khan, Subrat Dutta, Zareena Wahab, Tanikella, Subhalekha Sudhakar, Vishwajeet Pradhan, Kitty and others
Dialogues: Nageswara Rao
Music: Dharam- Sandeep
DOP: Amol Rathod
Editing: Bhanodaya, Nipun Ashok Gupta
Story, screenplay, direction: Ram Gopal Varma
Producers: Madhu Mantena, Sheetal Vinod Talwar, Chinna Vasudeva Reddy, Rajkumar
Release Date: 3 December 2010

The impact of ‘Rakta Charitra 1’ needs no introduction and this led to double expectations on the sequel. Ram Gopal Varma arrived with the second part today to give his interpretation.

Story:
Pratap Ravi (Vivek) begins to grow politically after a bloodbath of murders and other activities but his power is challenged with a bomb blast that sets him thinking. The man behind the blast is Surya Bhanureddy (Suriya), son of Narasimha Reddy (Kitty).

His attempt to kill Pratap goes in vain but DCP Mohan Prasad (Sudeep) locates Surya and asks him to surrender. Meanwhile, Pratap also knows that Surya is responsible for the attack and tries in various means to get him killed but is unsuccessful. Surya befriends Muddu Krishna (Aezaz Khan), the hardcore killer in the jail and reveals his flashback as to why he is so possessed with vengeance to kill Pratap.

On the other hand, those who are against Pratap realize the intention of Surya and decide to support him. In comes Swamy (Subhaleka Sudhakar) who advises Surya to make his wife Bhavani (Priyamani) to stand for the election. While the game of politics is on, Surya hatches his own plan to kill Pratap. How that happens forms the rest of the story.

Performances:
Suriya is the life and soul for this movie. He has taken the film to a new level with his riveting performance and depicts the emotion of a man possessed by revenge in the truest form. The intensity he brought in his act will leave a lasting impression on the hearts of the audience for a long time.

Vivek Oberoi was competent and made his presence felt whenever he is on the screen. Since the focus of the story was on the opposite side, Vivek goes with the flow and conveys a man in internal conflict to the best. This will be a highlight film in his career.

Priyamani was natural and did her bit with ease while Radhika Apte was convincing in every frame.

Sudeep has a strong screen presence and his expressions are intense. Aijaz Khan has got the cold icy look which is apt for his role. Shatrughan Sinha was brief and composed. Subhalekha Sudhakar was effective. Subrat Dutta was nice. The others did their bit as required and added value to the film.

Highlights:

  • Surya - Vivek jail sequence
  • Sudeep and Vivek’s tete-a-tete
  • ‘Naaku Chaavante Bhayam Ledhu…..Kaani Thanani Champakunda Chachchipothaanemo ani Bhayam’ – this dialogue got whistles and claps from the audience.
  • Fight sequence in jail was well conceptualized
  • Apparently, the scenes relating to Pedda Sir (assumed to be YSR) were censored but left enough controversial element with character name
  • Swamy, whom audience understood as KVP Rama Chandra Rao.
  • Suggestive hoardings of a leader showing only hands, diamond ring and traditional attire resembling YSR.
  • Slow motion effects in action scenes.
  • Above all, Surya’s mixed expressions while driving the car during the climax is unforgettable.
  • Climax song ‘Kaththulatho Saavasam’ and freezing the film on the face of an infant boy with peace message.

Lapses:

  • The people those know the real story find it hard to connect
  • In reality NTR was no more when Paritala was assassinated. But here it’s other way round.
  • It’s shown as if Maddelachervu Suri killed Paritala while Moddu Seenu lifted the blame, but in reality it’s known that Moddu Seenu killed.
  • Lack of YSR’s role goes against expectations (although gap was filled with Subhalekha Sudhakar’s character which is apparently KVP)

Analysis:
While the first part dealt with the rise of Pratap Ravi, the second half deals with his fall and how at each stage, another force grows. Ramu may not be philosophical but he sure has shown the law of Karma in the right way- what goes around comes around. The best part of the film is that despite its brutal title and the feel that it will have some gory scenes, there is not a single shot which makes you squirm.

There is intensity in every shot but aesthetical presentation of violence is an absolute beauty one should learn from Ramu. There is no nonsense and the thumb rule that more than the hero or villain, it is the story that is important and it is seen clearly here. The dialogues were deep, the script was flawless, the screenplay was magnificent. But the people those know the story find it out of track. Historically the movie seems to be incorrect when compared to the first part. Hence it may disappoint the audience those wait to watch a true historical film.

The background score was haunting. But the editing was jerking. The opening ten minutes are breathtaking, the audience is drawn into the film within the first few seconds and there is no turning back. The shot composition by Varma is truly impressive. There are many learning points for aspiring film makers and other technicians. This is an excellent manual of film making for supporting crew. Unlike the first part, there is no brutal bloodshed but the essence of violence is conveyed promptly.

Overall, the film is a technical masterpiece and content is ok.

Bottomline: This is a ‘Charitra’ that haunts for a decade.

Nandamuri Balakrishna In Tears

Nandamuri Natasimham Balakrishna is one man who is known to give tears to the villains through his power packed fists or to the heroines through his punch packed dialogues on the screen. But now, it is heard that the man himself was shedding tears and that too in real life.

Well, these were tears of cherished memories as per those who were with Balayya. Recently, Balayya unveiled the book ‘Yuganikokkadu’ which was about the life of his great father N T Rama Rao. It is heard that the book has got a fine collection of NTR and his family photos.

It is heard that Balayya was going through the book and he saw the childhood pictures which had his entire family including himself as a child. It seems he was gripped with nostalgia and remembered those golden years. While life has taken different paths for the Nandamuri folks a walk into the past brought tears of memory to Balayya. This was said by a man who moves close with Balayya everyday.

Jagapathi Babu 'Enjoying' Heroines Fully

Industry circles say that after Nagarjuna it is Jagapathi Babu who enjoys heroines to the fullest. He never hesitates to do romance with heroines even in public functions.

He ran an affair with a popular TV anchor for some time and simultaneously started enjoying Priyamani and Vimala Raman as per Film Nagar gossips.

Priyamani who acted in 'Pellaina Koththalo..', 'Pravarakhyudu..' and 'Sadhyam..' with Jaggu is also acting in 'Kshetram..' with Jagapathi Babu at present. This is something rare phenomenon for any actress to act for these many times with a single hero without the love and desire of hero.

On the other hand Jagapathi Babu acted with Vimala Raman recently in the film 'Gayam 2'. In a song he acted almost like in a blue film with her. Except the orgasm, every aspect of foreplay is shown in that song. Now Jaggu has again placed her in his next film 'Chattam'.

That means Jaggu is simultaneously enjoying heroines 'back to back' with lined up films.

Mohan Babu Gives Dates To RGV

Mohan Babu seems to have attracted to RGV’s poster of ‘Katha Screenplay Darsakatwam Appala Raju’. One of the posters say that ‘Chiranjeevi 150 va cinema ki Appalaraju darsakatwam vahisthaadani gossips vinipisthunnaayi’.

This is implied that RGV is a bit tending to direct Chiru’s 150th film, concluded many. But no one knows with what intention RGV kept this line on poster- is this to tickle Chiru or tackle Chiru is not known.

And the interesting part is Mohan Babu kept this line in twitter today.

“Dear 'AppalaRaju' Sunil Varma, whenever u r ready with the script for me, I will give u any number of dates under your direction”.

This can be read at twitter.com/themohanbabu

So, Mohan Babu may be implying that he is ready to give dates for Ram Gopal Varma indirectly. That’s interesting.

Nayantara's 'Big Hole' In 3 Languages

The controversial seductress Nayantara may well be going through a bumpy ride when it comes to her personal life but when it comes to her profession, she has been ruling the roost. Now, many are talking about her new film which is a trilingual but originally being made in Kannada.

The interesting part is that she is pairing up with the Kannada star Upendra who is known for his eccentric and weird antics. True to his image, this new project doesn’t have a title except for a gesture. The gesture is the thumb and the index finger touching each other making an ‘O’ or a hole.

This is usually used to say something is super. Now, this has been interpreted by many as Nayantara’s big hole. They feel that given Upendra’s histrionics, it might become a big hole at the box office. They reiterate that more than symbols or creative titles, the cinema must have content to succeed. Let us see what happens.

Nagarjuna's 'Ego Game' With Mahesh Babu

Handsome hero Nagarjuna may have come of age and has entered the senior league but given the celebrity status and the superstar image, it is natural to have that inflated ego which is quite common in the Telugu cine circuit. Now, it appears that Nag seems to have an ego problem with Mahesh Babu.

Well, it is known news that Mahesh is fondly known as Prince and many find that to be an apt title. However, Nag has taken a step ahead and has self declared himself as King. He had also told his fans to address him like that going forward.

It is now being revealed that this is the real reason Nag changed his title.

Apparently, many feel that Nag wants to convey he is more glamorous than Mahesh and that is why the ‘King’ issue came up. While it is agreed that Nag is no doubt handsome and very fit for his age, perhaps that would make more sense and carry better meaning when those around mention it than Nag himself. Call it the mid-life crisis folks??

Shriya Lost Everything

The stunning beauty Shriya seems to be in a bit of a mess right now. Well, it is nothing serious but then the news is that the pretty girl has lost her baggage while travelling by the Emirates Airlines flight. And this bag is said to be the key one as it has got her primary stuff.

It is heard that Shriya lost her favorite bags, new clothes, shoes, dresses etc. Moreover, it seems she is supposed to wait for hours together at the airport just to get that. While it is not sure if she will get it, the pretty girl is hoping that she gets it back and that too with all its items.

Shriya was in Dubai shooting for the Malayalam film ‘Casanova’ and she is pairing up with the superstar Mohanlal in this one. Also, Dubai is usually the hub for many heroines to do their shopping so one can imagine the load her baggage must be having. Let us hope she gets her baggage folks.
